Perforated House by Kavellaris Urban Design
kud 160809 03 Perforated House by Kavellaris Urban DesignThis project to us is a platform to establish a critical dialogue within our built environment; to raise questions as much as it is to finding solutions. The project is a critique on our cultural attitudes and how we determine them. A critique on what we consider to be of heritage significance and how to narrate such ideas in a critical and contemporary manner.

This once vacant site is nestled at the eastern bookend between a row of single fronted Victorian terraces and a double fronted Edwardian weatherboard house.
Our strategy was to critique and respond to our ongoing research into the Terrace typology. The built form is essentially an urban infill within a 5.5×14.4m envelope. The perforated house is our response to establish an alternative language to the accepted notion of our cultural attitude towards critical questions of identity and heritage.

Polish modern architecture by Moomoo Architects.Scheduled for completion in 2010 in Lodz, Poland, this unconventional house design takes a modern approach to traditional Polish houses. The unusual home is clad entirely in Thermopian – a plastic material typically used in roofing applications and favored for its high thermal, acoustic and insulating properties. But this material also offers this contemporary style architecture an unusual aesthetic for minimalist living that comes in any color.

contemporary seaside home design by Portuguese architect Paulo David is also referred to as “black and white house,” named for its opposing color palettes of black of the exterior and white interiors. You could say this home is minimalist living at its most. Views from this seaside home are always at hand here in Funchal of Madeira, Portugal. On the outside, this cool design boasts a simple, squared shape and a minimal black facade punctuated by large windows. This slope home plan sits on a plateau with a concrete wall behind it, while before it, endless views unfold. The main level houses the living areas and extends into the outdoors
